Air Works India Engineering Pvt. Ltd. was founded in 1951 by B. G. Menon and  P. S. Menon, recognised as two pioneers who contributed significantly to the development of Business Aviation. Starting with maintenance and overhaul work on a few Dakota DC-3s, Air Works has since been on a significant growth path, expanding in the areas of General/Business Aviation Maintenance Support, Commercial Aircraft Maintenance and Support and Aircraft Sales and Management.

Air Works is among the country's leaders in the Air Transport Services sector. With an extensive and skilled work force of over 450 employees across 10 airports in the country, Air Works manages India's largest aviation technical staff and provides comprehensive services for fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Air Works also became India's first DGCA approved independent Airline MRO in November 2008 for its commercial operations in Hosur (near Bengaluru).  

Our vision is to create a world class aviation services group with pan India presence offering recognised quality and value to the business and commercial aviation sector.

Air Works provides a broad range of aviation related services covering three main verticals:

  • General Aviation Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (GA MRO)
    Full-line maintenance and modifications for fixed and rotary wing business and general aviation aircraft.
  • Airline Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (A MRO)
    India's first independent Airline MRO with initial capabilities for line, base and AOG support for ATR 42/72, B737 series and A320 series.
  • Aircraft Sales, Management & Charters 
    Aircraft Sales (Gulfstream & Pre-owned), Aircraft Operational Management Services, Aircraft Charters, Flight Support Services.

In November 2007, Air Works attracted two strategic investors to broaden the equity and strategic reach of the Company. The investors include:

  • Global Technology Investment Group, LLC, a New York based Private Equity firm
  • Punj Lloyd, a transnational company specialising in the energy and infrastructure sectors, headquartered in Gurgaon, India

We are in the process of enhancing our current Airline MRO capability with the development of four additional hangars at Hosur Airport to support the dedicated MRO Centre, an FBO Terminal, an Aircraft Repainting Facility and a Flying Training Institute. Air Works has been allocated over seven acres to develop the desired infrastructure.

In addition, we are expanding operations to all major airport locations to further our General Aviation MRO capabilities.

Future plans include the establishment of Defence Offset Programs (MRO) and a National FBO chain utilizing our current presence.

Going forward, Air Works plans to invest an upward of $50 million for setting up the infrastructure to support the growth of all its activities.
